A Letter from The Lancasters

November 1, 2009

Dear Kate,

Every now and then someone or something comes across our life’s path and we are changed forever.

It has taken us a long time to write this note because we just didn’t feel like we had adequate words to thank you for all you did for my Aunt Anna and our family during the years she lived at your “HOME”. But, recently we came across a poem that Sameul Taylor Coleridge wrote shortly before his death that reads something like this:

Naught cared this body for wind or weather

When youth and I loved in it together; but when

I became old, and the searing rays of adversity’s

Sun burnt their way into my day, there was nothing

Like a sheltering tree to give me relief in its cool shade.

Aunt Anna’s “Home-Away-From Home” was like a sheltering tree. For years, beneath that tree, she received her cool breezes… rest, nourishment, encouragement, security, love, companionship, hope, friendship, and much understanding – without conditions or reservation. And, as her closing days on earth drew nigh, that sheltering tree also extended its branches to include each one of us who loved her so dearly – Thank God for all of you. We will never forget your kindness toward us. Your dedication to all of those you serve is exceedingly rare.

In Christian Love,

Bill and Betty Lancaster

Rise in the presence of the aged, show respect for the elderly and revere your God. I am the LORD.
