“Moments of Renewal — Caring for Those Who Have Always Cared for Us”

“May is a meaningful month for all of us at Reformed Church Home. It invites us to reflect on the care we’ve received throughout our lives—and the care we continue to give and receive today. Mother’s Day reminds us of the many individuals who have nurtured, guided, and supported others, often putting their own needs aside. In our Respite Care and Rehabilitation programs, we have the privilege of caring for those who have spent so much of their lives caring for others.

We also recognize that asking for help, even for a short time, takes strength. Whether someone is recovering from a hospital stay or a caregiver needs time to rest and restore, these moments of support are essential. They create space for healing, renewal, and peace of mind. It is an honor for our team to be part of that journey—providing care that is not only skilled, but deeply respectful and compassionate.”

At Reformed Church Home, May brings with it a quiet invitation—to pause, reflect, and honor the people who have shaped our lives through care, strength, and sacrifice.

Mother’s Day reminds us of the many forms caregiving takes—mothers, grandmothers, spouses, daughters, and friends who have given so much of themselves to others. Memorial Day calls us to remember those who served our country with courage, often supported by families who carried their own quiet strength at home.

In our Respite Care and Rehabilitation programs, we often meet individuals and families during moments of transition—after a hospital stay, a health setback, or simply the realization that support is needed. These moments can feel uncertain—but they can also be powerful.

Respite care offers caregivers a chance to rest and restore—something many have long postponed. Rehabilitation provides individuals with the tools and encouragement to regain strength, mobility, and confidence.

We see it every day—first steps after surgery, a deep exhale from a caregiver, a quiet smile returning as strength rebuilds.

Care has a way of coming full circle. And in May, that circle feels especially meaningful.
