A Letter from Tom Cunningham

February 1, 2010

Dear Ms. Shepard:

On January 15th, my mother Madeline Cunningham passed away at The Reformed Church Home where she was a resident for the past three years.  During that time, she resided in both the Assisted Living and the Skilled Care units. In both areas she felt at home and secure. The staff was always very competent, friendly and helpful and everyone who visited her was impressed with them and the facility itself.

Due to physical conditions she spent, by far, most of her residency in the Skilled Care Unit on the second floor under the watchful care of Wilson and his great group of care givers. My mother’s health deteriorated over the last two years and she was forced to be dependent on others, fortunately the others were this staff. They were professional and kind, they were attentive and they were her friends.

Madeline was 98 years old when she died and she had a very long and full life. She was active and healthy until she was 95 and then developed problems that would bring it to an end. I am glad she spent this time in a place like The Reformed Church Home and with the people that work there.  It is a friendly place where as in “Cheers” the TV show “everybody knew her name.” She liked that. I want to thank you and everyone at the home for the comfort, care and attention you all gave my mother while she was there. My family and I will be forever grateful. Thank you.

Sincerely Yours,

Tom Cunningham
