November 2016 News
November 11, 2016 – Old Bridge, NJ – Reformed Church Home hosted a Veteran’s Recognition and Pinning Ceremony this November to honor all residents who served in any branch of the US Military or Foreign Service. The program was sponsored and presented by Vitas Healthcare and included patriotic songs and stories.
Each veteran was recognized with an American flag pin and a personalized certificate thanking them for their service, presented by Retired US Army First Sergeant Craig Martin, MBA. As the current Veterans Liaison for Vitas, Sgt. Martin’s role is to assist veterans and families in determining benefits for which they may be eligible, as well as provide a resource for VA information that may be difficult to obtain or understand.
The activities department at RCH collected brief histories of each veteran’s tour of duty, and a biography was read as each person was honored. According to Kate Shepard, Executive Director at Reformed Church Home, “We so appreciate the men and women that have served and are grateful to Vitas for sponsoring such a moving program. It was so well attended with many family members expressing appreciation for the exceptionally well-planned event.”
